International Olive Council expert meeting on possible contaminants residues

The IOC Executive Secretariat organised an expert meeting on possible contaminants residues in olive oils and olive-pomace oils on 28 May 2019.

Several issues have been discussed over the past few months, since our last meeting in December. In particular, four electronic working groups have been created, and an open call from the Executive Secretariat allowed other laboratories, including private ones, to participate in data collection and method validation.

During the next meeting, the group will also examine the results of the 2018 ring-test on the determination of pesticide residues and organisation of the next proficiency testing, as well as discuss on an important document on the maximum limits of maximum residue limits (MRLs) in olive oils and other olive products, based on a survey recently carried out in IOC member countries.
