IOC: Preparation for the new edition of the International Master’s Degree

Encouraging results for the 12th International Master’s Degree in Olive Growing and Olive Oil Technology at the University of Cordoba, after several years’ collaboration between the International Olive Council (the IOC), the University of Cordoba, the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (French acronym CIHEAM), the Andalusian Institute of Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Training (Spanish acronym IFAPA) representing the autonomous government of Andalusia, and the Spanish National Research Council (Spanish acronym CSIC). Some 20 students from eight countries were given the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in olive growing and olive oil technology.

Preparation for the 13th edition of the programme, which will take place over the next two academic years (2019/20 – 2020/21) is already underway. Representatives of the main institutions involved met in Cordoba to take stock of the situation: Ricardo Fernández Escobar, the director of the programme; Jerónimo Pérez Parra, the director of IFAPA, representing the Junta of Andalusia; Leonardo Velasco Varo, the director of the Institute for Sustainable Agriculture, representing the CSIC; Julieta Mérida, the vice-chair of the University of Cordoba; Manuela Cerezo, representing CIHEAM; and Catarina Bairrao Balula, the Head of the Technical Cooperation and Training Department at the IOC (all pictured).
