Ioc-Supagro Montpellier. The agreement was approved by the Council during its 111 th session
The IOC and the SupAgro Institute/UMR AGAP Montpellier have been working on olive genetic resources together for several years, including by providing expertise on the project to establish the world collection in Izmir and assisting in the genetic characterisation of the world collections in Marrakech and Cordoba.
Most recently, the Technical Unit worked with the institute to set up a project to study the adaptation of olive trees to climate change and the resilience of olive growing, both in the cropping systems and markets, in the context of global change. The project was entitled “Diversity of varieties, cropping systems and oil markets as an asset of Mediterranean olive growing in the context of global change”.
To strengthen relations and help implement the project, a collaboration agreement between the two institutions on the genetic, phenotypic and agronomic characterisation of olive genetic resources was approved by the Council during its 111th session.
