The Report is drawn up by the Icqrf on data recorded in the olive oil computerized registers, which at 30 November 2021 are almost 23,000. Olive oils: 230,138 tons in stocks. Compared to 30 October 2021 an 18.2% increase was recorded (194,741 tons). Stocks are 21.4% lower than the stocks recorded the same period of last year

Olive oil stocked in Italy. Update f 30 November 2021


The stock of olive oil in Italy on 30 November 2021 is 230,138 tons. Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Evo) represents the 72.4% of the stock. In the category of Evo oil, stocks of olive oil of Italian origin (95,786 t) represent the 57.5%, followed by those of Eu origin 36.2%. The extra-Eu olive oil stocks and blend olive oils are marginal.

Where is physically stocked the olive oil in Italy?

More than half of the national olive oil (52%) is stocked in the regions of southern Italy, with the significant contribution of the regions Puglia and Calabria (32.6% and 10.9%, respectively). At the provincial level, 16.0% of olive oil is stocked in the province of Bari, 7.1% in Barletta-Andria- Trani, and 6.6% in Perugia province.

At the regional level, the top 4 regions (Puglia, Tuscany, Calabria, and Sicily) hold the 68.7% of the total national stock.

At provincial level, it is clear a significant concentration of olive oil stocks: in the top 10 provinces is stocked the 61.5% of the Italian olive oil.

Which olive oil in the olive mill Italy?

Despite the large number of GIs present (49), out of a total of 16.8 million litres of GI olive oil in stock, higher than the stocks recorded the 31 October 2021 (10.2 million litres), the Pdo Terra di Bari represent the 29.3% and the first 20 names 95.0% of the total GIs olive oil stocked in Italy.

Overall, the Pdo/Pgi olive oil in stock is equal to 6.7% of the total olive oil stocked in Italy and represents 9.3% of the stored Evo oil.

The total stock of extra virgin olive oiland virgin olive oilfrom organic farming amounts to 28,672 tons, almost exclusively Evo (99.5%), equal to 17.1% of the overall Evo stocked in Italy. The olive oil Bio is mainly stocked in Puglia, Calabria, Sicily, and Tuscany.

Compared to 30 November 2020, olive oil stocks are 21.4% lower. This is related mainly to the reduction of Evo oil (-21.3%), pomace olive oil (-31.7%), and lampante olive oil (-19.6%). Anyway, a reduction in stocks of all categories of olive oils is recorded.

On regard of Evo oil, it is important to remark the lower level of Italian Evo oil stocked (-27.8%).

Compared to 31 October 2021, a 18.2% increase of olive oil stocks is recorded. This is related mainly to the increase of Evo oil (+20.4%), mainly of Italian origin (+48.3%), pomace olive oil (+27.0%), and lampante olive oil (+6.5%). Deserve to be mentioned the reduction of olive oil and refined olive oil (-13.3%).
